  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 (4 pound) chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 (29 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 3 ½ cups cider vinegar
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 pinch garlic powder
