  • Place milk, egg, almond extract, butter, flour, sugar, cinnamon, salt, and yeast in a bread machine in the order listed. Run Dough cycle. Remove dough from the machine after the cycle is done, about 90 minutes.
  • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and punch it down. Roll out to about 1/2-inch thickness. Cut into shapes.
  • Transfer to floured parchment paper and cover with lightly greased plastic wrap. Allow to rise for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat an air fryer to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) according to manufacturer's instructions. Spray the basket with cooking spray.
  • Arrange donuts and holes in a single layer in the air fryer and spay with oil. Leave about 1/2 inch around each piece, as they will grow. Cook for 4 minutes. Repeat until all donuts and holes are cooked.
  • While the first batch cooks in the air fryer, prepare the glaze: Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir in confectioners' sugar and almond extract. Remove from heat. Stir in 1 tablespoon of hot water at a time until the glaze is thin, but not watery.
  • Dip hot donuts in the glaze, using a fork to flip and coat each side. Cool on a wire rack over a rimmed baking sheet (they will drip and make a mess!) for 10 minutes.
